3.4    Possession---A Silent Takeover

Yao Xie possession goes by many folk names: being "ridden," being "followed," being "pressed." They all describe the same thing: A non-human entity enters a human body and begins vying for the steering wheel.

It sounds out there. But if you break down the mechanics, there's a pattern.

Entry Points. According to tradition, Yao Xie enter through specific acupuncture points. For men, usually the Huiyin point (perineum). For women, the Yumen point. These are on the lower midline, the intersection of the Ren and Du meridians. Extremely powerful Yao Xie (with 10,000+ years of attainment) can enter through the Baihui point at the crown of the head.

This explains a clinical observation: When a Qi Cultivator applies the "Thirteen Ghost Gate Needles" technique and hits the Yumen point, the possessed person's reaction often spikes violently. That's the door it came in through.

Who gets targeted? Vulnerabilities cluster around a few factors.

Low Innate Qi. Some people are born with weak Yang energy. Sickly kids, those who grew up bullied, the chronically depressed, trauma survivors. Your baseline is just lower.

Bad Environment. Some spaces are "dirty"---not dust, but spiritually stagnant. Old houses, buildings on strange land, places where your Qi gets worn down just by sleeping there.

Bad Luck. Sometimes it's not karma. You were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. You were under 12 years old and your energetic shield wasn't fully formed. Or you were in a state of extreme weakness---after childbirth, major surgery, intense grief, or severe illness. The door was open.

The Process. Possession is slow. You don't notice it at first. It moves in, then it has to "drill the channels." This is a years-long process of carving out territory in your subtle body.

During this drilling phase, it creates symptoms:

  • Amplified Negative Emotions: Anxiety, rage, despair cranked up to eleven. This can mimic or exacerbate clinical depression/anxiety.
  • Physical Malaise: Unexplained fatigue, heaviness, foggy head, feeling like you're wrapped in cotton wool. Because these are "subtle body" blockages, medical tests come back normal. Traditional Chinese culture calls these "Virtual Illnesses" (as opposed to "Real Illnesses" detectable by instruments).
  • Dream Manipulation: Nightmares to deplete your energy, or seductive dreams to build trust and guide your waking behavior.

Eventually, it might "open speech." The person suddenly speaks in a voice or with knowledge that isn't theirs. This is when families usually realize something is seriously wrong.

Some never open speech. The person just hears voices inside their head. Logic, conversation. This is often diagnosed as schizophrenia. Meds might dampen the symptoms but can't touch the root cause if the root cause is a Yao Xie.

Even if a Yao Xie is lazy and doesn't actively try to harm you, its Yin nature inevitably disrupts your Yin-Yang balance, leading to long-term health decline.
